Digital Inspections and Infrastructure Maintenance in the Field

NIS-Field is a mobile application for NIS users responsible for managing infrastructure in outdoor areas, including nature parks, municipalities, trail associations, and tourism organizations. Infrastructure, points of interest (POIs), and defects can be recorded, inspected, and documented with photos directly on-site and on the map, without paper forms or the need to re-enter data back at the office. If everything is in order during an inspection, a single click is all it takes. If a defect is identified, it can be recorded along with the required action, notes, and photos, and tracked through to completion.

The app has been designed with an “offline-first” approach: Geodata and base maps can be downloaded to the device in advance. NIS-Field can then operate fully offline in the field, without an internet connection. As soon as connectivity is restored, all changes are synchronized with the central PostGIS database and become available in NIS-Desktop as well. As a Progressive Web App, NIS-Field requires no app-store installation and runs on tablets, smartphones, and in a web browser, with a streamlined interface specifically designed for field use.
